All rides will begin at “first light” on Saturday of Chainbreaker weekend. Although Chainbreaker offers Riders four different ride options, all Chainbreaker Riders travel along the same route until they reach their chosen finish lines.
Riders will depart Eagan from the Blue Cross Blue Shield campus. The route takes Riders east and south through Rosemount, Farmington, and Hampton (25-mile finish with breakfast). The route then connects with the Cannon Valley Trail out of Cannon Falls and heads due east. The trail ends near Welch Village (50-mile finish with lunch/100 & 180-mile lunch) where the route will veer south and west passing through the small communities of Vasa, Belle Creek, Dennison, and Nerstrand, MN. Riders will continue west until they reach Cannon City. At this point the route changes and heads north into Northfield and St. Olaf College (100-mile finish & 180-mile overnight). On Sunday, the 180-mile Riders begin riding west before heading north in the direction of the Twin Cities with the 180-mile ride finishing at the Excelsior Commons in Excelsior, MN. Safe to say the route will appeal to cyclists of all abilities!
In order to make your Chainbreaker experience as safe and fun as we can, the Chainbreaker ride will be a supported ‘rules of the road’ ride with various support assets such as law enforcement, signage, and rest stops. If you choose to ride the Chainbreaker route not on event weekend please ride at your own risk.
